Dr. Steven Olmos is an internationally recognized lecturer and researcher, and the founder of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre’s International. He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, and has dedicated the past 25 years to the fields of craniofacial pain, TMD and sleep disordered breathing. He has extensive post graduate education and board certifications in both craniofacial pain and dental sleep medicine. Dr. Olmos is an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where his system of diagnosis and treatment are utilized at the school’s Craniofacial Pain Center. He is currently directing research in these fields through data collection at 28 TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre’s spanning 5 Countries including the Craniofacial Pain Center at the University of Tennessee. This effort is focused to establish protocols between dentistry and medicine for optimal treatment outcomes.
Functional Orthotic Design is the chosen Australian Laboratory Accredited with Olmos Protocols and continues building relationships with Dental Professionals in these fields. Dr Olmos conducts educational visits and advanced training schools each year in Australia with Body Logic Resources, Digital Dental and Functional Orthotic Design providing valuable assistance.

Education Programs Developed and Taught by Dr. Steven Olmos
- Introduction to TMD Studies 2-Day (Level I) – A stable TMJ should be first obtained before restorative, orthodontic or prosthetic treatment. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to diagnose and treat basic TM Dysfunction.
- TMD & Sleep Studies Mini-Residency (Level II) – This comprehensive 3 session program will give you the skills that are needed to be sure the correct cranio-mandibular position is correct, the necessary treatment for rehabilitation of an injured joint and establishing the correct airway. This course includes over 1200 pages of course manuals and presents the philosophies of the following North American Associations: These organizations are the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American Academy of Pain Management, and the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics.
- Advanced TMD Residency (ATMDR) (Level III) – Doctors spend 6 weekends with Dr. Olmos and his staff developing hands-on skills, while treating actual patients using Dr. Olmos protocols and systems for the delivery of complete TMD and sleep disordered breathing care. Pre requesite-completion of Mini-Residency didactic program.
