Epigenetic Pneumopedics® for OSA with the DNA appliance®
PNUEMOPEDICS®
NON-SURGICAL AIRWAY REMODELING
Functional Orthotic Design offers a pneumopedic® device called the mRNA Appliance System. The mRNA Appliance is FDA approved in the United States and is cleared for the treatment of snoring and mild-to-moderate Sleep Apnea.
What is Pneumopedics®?
Pneumopedics® is the process of non-surgical airway remodeling that may result from treatment with a state-of-the-art biomimetic DNA appliance® System.
How does Pneumopedics® work?
The DNA appliance® System uses principles of Epigenetic Orthodontics to activate a person’s naturally occurring genes to correct underdevelopment in the craniofacial region. The bones in the craniofacial region are slowly remodeled over time making a foundational correction to the structure of the airway non-surgically. It is a pain-free minimally invasive process which uses no drugs/medication or injections.
How long does it take?
It varies from person to person taking into account compliance by the patient to follow through with the treatment plan to fully realize the potential health benefits from treatment with the DNA appliance® System. Everyone is unique and treatment times vary. Your local certified provider can help you understand the process and length of time for the treatment.
During the Pneumopedic® process, the craniofacial region undergoes structural changes as the bones surrounding the airway are remodeled, grown and redeveloped. The functional space of the airway increases volumetrically allowing for greater function of basic physiological processes, such as: sleeping and breathing. The structural change to the underlying bone creates more functional space in which to breathe. With this larger airway space, the patient will breathe with greater efficiency and ease. This is the reason that these DNA appliances® are used to treat, reduce and eventually eliminate OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea).
